So, I'm about to graduate with an education degree in May , however , as most teaching jobs are nonexistent these days and I have really wanted to go to graduate school (and be able to afford to do so) , I'm thinking of taking a year off to pursue a degree in cosmetology . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Is it a smart move ? I'd like to hear from anyone who has been in a similar situation .

You may be able to obtain funds from the graduate school as a teaching assistantship or fellowship. I do not think you would be able to obtain certification in cosmetology and be able to do a significant amount of money in a year , so it would probably take more than a year off will likely decrease the likelihood of ever going back. If you want to do something with the education they need to go to college , but this is probably irrelevant , because the deadlines for applications for graduate schools are over. You will have to wait until next year , just make sure that you spend years doing things that make you look better schools , like taking non-degree courses in education and not necessarily learning to style hair .
