Such boats are called long-tail boats and are usually hired by tourists ( or anyone ) to go and take them places and channels along the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok . They can also be hired to transport goods along the river. You can rent them at many of the piers along the river that leads to sights and attractions on the river . MedlinePlus Locals and tourists who travel along the river often use the Chao Phraya Express boats that are much cheaper to travel on established routes rather than rent a long tail boat .
