I was thinking about an article written by Professor Thorp , who is one of the most successful investors ... and thus a " casino legend " :) . MedlinePlus So , in summary , Professor Thorp discusses the Kelly criterion (in short: the critation kelly is a simple formula that indicates what fraction of your money you should trade , here's a detailed description : http://en.wikipedia . org / wiki / Kelly_criterion ) . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Therefore, at some point in his article Professor Thorp tells a story of how some time ago (1994) , he and some young doctoral student have tried to apply a theory kelly in sports betting . According to the article, have made a return of 100 % within 6 months. MedlinePlus MedlinePlus Now ... we assume that 100 % is a fairly decent for 6 months , and therefore allows you to put a 100 % annual return about ... MedlinePlus If you calculate the rate of this compound , it seems that Professor Thorp would have been $ 239 148 417 024 from the date of commencement , 1994 to submit 2008.In days, ie . About 200bln USD for 14 years , with an initial capital of 50 K < br > MedlinePlus Now, I know the practical problems that the bookies do not pay so much :) , but assuming that apply to a set of negative expacation Kelly , think about it when it comes to Forex trading or stok :) . Not surprisingly, Kelly Warren Buffet uses ... and he is a good friend Professor Thorp also . MedlinePlus MedlinePlus P.S. MedlinePlus Not a bad deal if you ask me :) .
