If you trade stocks in the U.S. stock market do you have to pay taxes if you live overseas the entire year?0akeira2012-11-06 07:52:57
If I trade stocks do I have to pay taxes on the earnings of my stocks if I live outside of the U.S. for the entire year? The way I interpret the foreign tax credit is that as long as I am outside the USA I don't have to pay taxes on my earnings so long as I am outside the USA for 330 days out of the year.[View Answers]

How to tell if a stock trade is a sell/buy?0Greg2012-11-06 04:52:51
On a message board somewhere about a specific stock someone wrote "There are alot of sales today". I was under the impression that all stock trades were both a sell and a buy, so I am confused what this means. Does it mean to sell to the market maker? I have looked at Level 2 and I can see each individual trade, but it does not list "sell" or "buy". Can someone please explain this to me?[View Answers]

Tax question about Stock Trading?0Ms. Lisa2012-11-05 16:39:58
I'm new to trading stocks online and had a question about filing taxes. Am I required to list every transaction for the year, buys and sells on the forms, or do I list only the total costs, proceeds and total capital gains? Also, I used two different online trading sites. Will those need to be all filed separately or, do I combine the two accounts in the totals? I haven't received my forms or started the taxes so I'm not sure what I should be looking for. Hopefully I'll only need to list total amounts- that will be much easier than listing every transaction.[View Answers]

Can somebody explain online stock trading to me?0phu2012-11-05 08:19:41
In my personal finance class, we are learning how (typically) good the return rate on the stock market is, and with the availability of good trading tools and programs, I have become intrigued to start investing. A couple questions, what is the minimum age required to become involved in the stock market? I am turning 18 this summer. I am lucky enough to have my parents/scholarships/grants pay for my college, so I would like to put my dormant money to work. So are there fees to entry or membership fees on average for a trading program? Also, are there any fees for daily usage? Basically can somebody give me a 101 on online trading? Thanks![View Answers]
