Does anyone know what I could write about for this economics essay?0manuel2012-11-06 07:52:46
In short: I'm writing an essay on an WSJ article about Canada's Trade surplus. The article is title: Canada's Surprise Trade Surplus I've drawn a Supply&Demand graph to explain how oil (1/3 of Canada's exports) decreased in price during soft US + World demand, but now is rising as demand rises. It mentions: Imports rising Equipment being put back to use -Nothing about employment, but I could throw it in? Mentions this surplus may just be a blip, and not indicate a wider trend -- how could I analyses that? I'm not asking, of course, for my homework. I just can't think of what else to mention to fill up the word min. Thanks![View Answers]

Wow . . . concerned about trade deficits . . .?0imms2012-11-05 04:21:39
Outside of US energy imports, most of US "imports" enter as "exports" from Asia, which are in fact goods produced by US subsidiaries and contract producers. In other words, US firms "export" financial capital, capital equipment, and knowledge goods to Asia and in turn receive "exports" of intermediate and finished goods returning to the US as "imports" (and to the rest of Asia and elsewhere). If one were to adjust the US current account deficit for US imports from US subsidiaries and for energy imports from US integrated oil companies with capacity worldwide, the actual US trade imbalance is no more than 2% of GDP. Any additional thoughts . . . I thought this was mind blowing . . .[View Answers]

I hope the people that made me lose my job at Chrysler lose a lot of money Friday.I will lose my job, house, and pension thanks to a lot of ignorant Americans. The UAW isn't the cause of the auto companies failure,it is the trade laws and tax laws.Japan can import all the cars it wants and gets a 19% tax break or a 19% profit before the car is sold.Detroit exports a car to Japan and there is a 19% value tax added and we can only have 3% of the Japan market, free trade? So please if you have any stocks sell them Friday because they will be worthless after 1 or more of these companies go belly up and unemployment is over 10%.[View Answers]
